Our 17 match unbeaten run in all Competitions dating back to 6 March 2020 came to an end with defeat in our final Group game of the Supplementary Shield. While our place in the play offs had already been secured, our opponents knew a win by a 2 goal margin would earn them the remaining spot on goal difference, ahead of St. Francis Rangers.
While our performance looked flat and jaded in the second half, there was an inevitability about TD Shipley coming at us in the second half and turning round a 2 goal lead to Beeding after 30 mins when Pat O’Sullivan notched a double rounding off 2 good moves down the right hand side.
A hotly disputed claim for a penalty, waved away by the Ref, ignited TD Shipley – while we allowed the melee to too easily get to our discipline and concentration. The consequence, an absence of marking and closing down giving our opponents the space to pull a goal back from the edge of the box. HT 2-1 with TD in the ascendancy
A crazy spell of conceding 3 goals in 25 minutes at the start of the half, including an Oggie forth goal, saw the visitors get the 2 goal winning margin they needed, and a deserved victory on the night. They wanted it more, perhaps inevitably.
For our part, substitutes came and went, the pack got shuffled, but it was a lack lustre second half and much finger pointing that achieved little in turning the game around and so the end came, 4 v 2 to TD Shipley.

We move on to the SCFL Div 2 Supplementary Shield Play Off semi finals on Sat 8 May where it is confirmed as Upper Beeding v Rustington and Montpelier Villa v TD Shipley
